Special on floating floors

pavimenti in pietra galleggianti Its close affinity with natural stone, the first in recent years to be involved in fresh approaches and applications that were previously unthought-of, does not limit the opportunities for flooring from the Biopietra collection. There is one primary example: raised paving.

In this important market sector, its suitability for use as swimming pool surrounds or paving for terraces, as well as offering a possible answer to the environmental impact issues that we all face today, is fundamental.

Stone products from the Biopietra collection have amply demonstrated their suitability for the same applications as marble, stoneware or ceramics, offering design options that can make any space unique.

Thanks to this laying system, specific for load-bearing terraces and swimming pools, it will no longer be necessary to remove the old floor, saving considerable costs and minimizing the time needed to renew the affected flooring.
The flooring can be laid without using any specialized labourers. In addition, being able to count on a gravel floor slab, this particular type of laying becomes particularly suitable when: the base to be covered is not linear, you do not want or it is not possible to make a concrete floor slab (for example, for flooring to be laid in a garden, gazebo, etc.), for flooring on the edge of a swimming pool, for flooring of load-bearing terraces, when you want the rainwater to be filtered (rainwater is filtered by
the gravel floor slab, avoiding any organic/inorganic residues from being able to obstruct the down pipes).

After applying the waterproofing sheath, lay out a SclŸter - Troba protective and draining sheath (*). This type of sheath is resistant to mechanical stress during the laying phases, such as the treading of the personnel and the passing of the wheelbarrows. On the top of the sheath you can then put down a layer of dry gravel and rubble (grade from 0.5 mm to 10 mm) for a thickness of 8/10 cm. This layer must be well levelled and beaten down so as to obtain a smooth and flat surface.
Then, directly on the floor slab made in this way, lay the Biopietra slabs. The finished floor will thus be flat, stable and it will allow rainwater to run off quickly.

The support and waterproofing must have a sufficient slope to allow the water to run off according to standard DIN 18 195 - part 5, to allow the water crossing the layer above the sheath to drain off and flow straight out through the openings and/or into the drains.
This flooring system can also be used in the pedestrian areas around swimming pools.
All Biopietra floors can be used with this type of installation in sizes 50x50 cm, 60x40 cm.
This type of flooring is not suited for a driveway.
